Nika Kim

Welcome to my world of dance, movement, and self-discovery.

I am Nika Kim—a Butoh dancer, artist, movement researcher, and spiritual practitioner with Russian-Korean roots, currently based in Berlin.
My journey into the world of dance began in early childhood, accompanied by piano lessons. Creativity has forever found a home in my heart.
Where art transforms into ritual, and dance becomes a dialogue—a way to understand human experience and connect with the world through symbolism—the world itself is no longer the same. It becomes enriched with new colors, sounds, shapes, images, and textures, bringing a fresh sense of sacred presence and spirituality to each moment.

Philosophy & Practice
My journey with Butoh began in 2016, and since then, it has become a core of my practice and way of life. I see dance as a sacred language—a symbolic code that connects us with the subconscious, where our shadows, truths, memories, and multiple lives reside. It is a space of immense healing, awakening, and transformation.

In my practice, dance is not merely an external performance, but an inner path to presence and embodiment. I draw from a range of physical and spiritual methodologies, including Butoh, Reiki, meditation, throat singing, mantra chanting, mudra practices, and the Minako Seki Method. I am also a certified Reiki Master II, and I weave energetic awareness into my movement and facilitation.

Teachers & Lineage

My Butoh path has been deeply shaped by working with exceptional teachers, including Valentin Tzin, Minako Seki, Yumiko Yoshioka, Kristy Nataraja and Seisaku. Their influences continue to guide and inspire my research and artistic language.

Artistic Approach & Collaborations

My improvisational work is rooted in intuitive movement—letting the body speak, respond, and transform. I often incorporate archetypal analysis inspired by Carl Gustav Jung, using movement as a means to uncover hidden narratives and connect with collective symbols. As a facilitator of the Minako Seki Method, I integrate its principles to activate, awaken, and liberate the body.

From 2016 to 2021, I was part of the Das Gegenteil collective, curated by Valentin Tzin, performing at Berliner Art Week, Greenhouse, Arena, and Artistania and more.

I have trained both in Berlin and Japan under master Minako Seki, completing the Teacher Course Stage 2 from 2022-2025
